overwhelmIf you are about to work on a big project you might be feeling overwhelmed and even anxious of all the things you need to get done. This will probably lead to procrastination because you don’t even know how or where to start.

You probably have been doing a lot of research to be able to put this project together, in a sense this is a good thing, because you have a lot of information, but it can also overwhelm you when you try to process this information and slim it down into a specific project and put it all together.

So how will you eliminate overwhelm and procrastination when working on a big project?

When working on a project that requires more time and effort, like writing a sales letter, or a big article, creating a blog, or any project you are thinking of, just start with very small and simple tasks.

The idea here is to do very small tasks that are simple to accomplish. So simple to accomplish that you will get them done easily, and you will also find yourself doing so much more than you imagine.

This works because doing simple tasks will eliminate overwhelm and even anxiety that comes from the thought of taking on a huge project. This will also lead to eliminate procrastination, which will make you finish the job faster and without it being a pain for you.

Break it down to small pieces.

    Here is an example:

If your project right now is to have your wordpress blog up and running, you can write your list of tasks to get done each day.

    • search for a wordpress theme you like
    • install the wordpress theme
    • edit the header of your blog
    • edit the footer of your blog
    • search for plugins you need
    • install the plugins
    • reorder the place of the widgets in the sidebar
    • come up with a good title for a new article
    • write down a list of keyword you want to focus on your article
    • write the introduction of your article
    • write the body of the article
    • etc

Even if they are a lot of small tasks, try not to see it as a complete project. Your goal for today will be completing one task, next day your goal is to complete the next, and so on.

Focus on each task and get it done without worrying about the big picture. Give yourself permission to work on something small, but consistently get one task done each day. You will find yourself doing more this way because you will eliminate overwhelm and procrastination.
